The new year is a time for reflection, resolutions, and turning over a new leaf. That being said, there has been no shortage of Phishing Emails and we have our first reported phishing email for 2019. We have received numerous requests to verify the authenticity of emails such as the one below.
To the trained eye, this is clearly a phishing email. Firstly, it is easy to identify some grammatical errors, which is usually a quick way of raising a Red Flag. Secondly, most email servers will not send out messages such as quotas exceeded, or cancellation of an account because of non use. Many servers, will keep email accounts open for years or unless the user deactivates it. For example, email accounts hosted by Pc Expertz Web Hosting and Online Solutionshave unlimited storage, no expiry dates and our Technical Support teams never contact clients via email in this manner, without secondary verification.
If you suspect that your email has been compromised, or you may have clicked on such a link, please don’t hesitate to contact our technical support team for assistance. In the interim, however, the best course of action is to log into your email and change the password immediately. You can also check your email logs to determine if you have had unauthorized access to your emails to verify that your account was not compromised.
